This year I will be teaching a comprehensive part-time weekend certification training in Houston and at my retreat center in Anderson.  The course is 75 hours and meets once a month for 7 months.

May 19th and 20th in Anderson

June 16th and 17th in Houston

Hours:

Houston hours:      Sat/Sun  12:30pm to 5:30pm

Anderson hours:    Saturday 2pm to 8pm

                               Sunday   8am to 3pm

Course Objective:

In this course you will learn to teach yoga for personal enrichment or for professional development.  You can use this knowledge to deepen your yoga practice or embark on a new career path. At the end of the course, you will be able to lead others on a safe, well planned and enjoyable yoga experience, just as I have been doing for the past 18 years. .   

Course Description:

Classes will meet for 5 (or more) contact hours a day, each day of the training.  We will begin with lectures covering topics such as class format, sequencing of yoga poses, finding your authentic voice, how to teach meditation, the use of silence in a classroom, yoga philosophy, anatomy, ethics, Sanskrit and yoga history. An overview of the business of yoga and the concept of right lively hood will be taught. We will practice yoga asana in detail and discuss pose benefits and modifications.  We will practice teach.  You will likely want to take alot of notes.  In addition to contact hours with Kay, there will be required reading and homework assignments due.  There will be quizzes and a final test.   

Books:  A list of both required books and recommended books and study aids will be furnished.  Other materials:  bring your mat, block and strap and be ready for yoga practice.  Bring pens and paper for note taking and a 3 ring notebook for handouts. All books, study aids and materials are NOT included in your tuition.  Audio/video recordings of the trainings sessions are not allowed. 

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is required at all sessions.  Limited make up hours are scheduled for December.  A student with absences more than 10% (6.5 contact hours) of the training may be administratively dropped.  Kay has the discretion to dismiss any student for disruptive or abusive behavior.  This is a training and not a public class or a retreat.  Third party observation is not allowed.     

Teaching Certificate

Upon substantial completion of all course requirements, a certificate will be issued.  Kay has sole discretion to determine substantial completion and can withhold a certificate for cause.  Students must have completed all 75 hours, passed the final test and paid all tuition monies.    

Admissions

Applicants must be in reasonably good heath.  Fill out the Registration Application Form and submit to Kay. 

Tuition:

Tuition fee is $1,500.  Payment may be made by cash, check or thru PayPal below.  Save 3% and pay by cash/check. Tuition is to be paid in full before the first day of training.

Deposit to Reserve Space

A $300 non-refundable deposit secures your space and is evidence of your commitment to the training. 

Refund Policy

Full refunds are available up to the 1st day of the course, minus the $300 deposit.  No refunds are available after the course begins.  No refunds for no shows, drop-outs, withdraws or incomplete's, late arrivals or early departure, dismissals for cause.   NO EXCEPTIONS.   

Cancellation of Course

Prior to the 1st day of training, this course may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or other exceptional causes and full refunds will be made.  .

Reschedule of weekend sessions

Kay has the discretion to (under extreme circumstances) cancel and reschedule any weekend session.  Such make up sessions would be accommodating and agree to by all.     

Guest Faculty

At Kay's discretion, guest instructors and/or substitutes may be brought in to teach, usually for a a specialty subject. 

Waivers and Indemnity

In order to participate in the program, you must sign these waiver forms provided at the first day of training:  Release of Liability, Waiver of Right to Sue.  Also, permission for use of photographs in relation to Kay's promotional materials will be given.  While in the training, students are not allowed to promote any interest personal to them, unless given specific permission.  

Accommodations:

For the trainings held in Anderson, Scenic View Retreat Center has limited overnight accommodations.  The all-inclusive accommodation fee is $75.  You may also lodge nearby in Navasota, Tx and a commuter fee of $25 will be charged to cover the cost of meals and facility use.
